De Vormforensen is a graphic design studio specialized in working for clients who dare to make social and sustainable impact. We make abstract stories tangible and like to work from your practice and world towards visible identities, campaigns, websites, annual reports, impact reports and books.
Our working method?
We work according to principles of graphic anthropology (this is a method in which you first do research and observations within a team, organization, design question or neighborhood and only then convert these into an identity). We always work from your story and identity and translate that into form. We love colorful, tactile, tangible work executed with sustainable materials and techniques and understandable language.
Your story?
Often you know your organization or project best. We therefore start every assignment by listening to your story. We would love to visit you to get to know each other.
How do you tell your own story?
Sometimes you don't know the story yet, that is no problem for us. We like to go out with you, in the organization, in the neighborhood, with your customers to talk, to collect stories in order to arrive at honest campaigns, or the right identity. We do this by collaborating with anthropologists, photographers and filmmakers. We can organize workshops within teams, in neighborhoods, with the management. This way we can map out your story, creating an identity that is supported by everyone.
Making impact?
We like to work sustainably and socially. How can you do this? Think of green hosting, sustainable types of paper. But also websites that are accessible to a broad audience with a low footprint.
Graphic Anthropology?
Graphic anthropology is a design method where you first do research into the story to be visualized. Our studio distinguishes itself through thorough research before we create an identity or campaign. This ensures that people within a project get a voice, that an identity is correct, that there is room for multiple perspectives, and that we sometimes collect differences (for example in jargon) and can offer space for that. This way you get campaigns that tell the real story and are supported by everyone within an organization.
How does a design process work?
We always start with a conversation, in which we ask about your design question. We get to know your organization, idea and background. Based on this conversation we can draw up a quote; the quote contains a debriefing (both in language and in image (a first overview of visual references), a plan of approach, planning and budget.
After the quote, we always start with a research, which we convert into a concept proposal. This concept we record in a brand manual or a presentation. After this concept, we work out all expressions and ensure that everyone within the organization can also work with the new identity.
Do you also want to be able to make something yourself?
Often organizations come to us with the question that they also want to be able to create expressions themselves. We understand that; this ensures that a corporate identity can be used dynamically by multiple people. For this, we build handy digital tools with which you can, for example, make posters yourself. Curious how this works? Take a look at Rijndistrict or Pop Up Cinema, for example.
